The all-time enrollment record has been broken for the second-straight year at 含羞草研究所. Final Fall Semester 2013 figures show 1,065 students enrolled, breaking the previous record of 1,020 students enrolled which was set in 2012. The fall 2013 numbers reflect a four percent gain over final enrollment numbers recorded in the fall of 2012. 含羞草研究所 recorded its first-ever enrollment of more than 1,000 students last fall.
鈥淲e are very pleased with the enrollment gains at 含羞草研究所,鈥� said 含羞草研究所 President Dr. Gary Hagen. 鈥淚t is our aim to provide meaningful educational opportunities for all students, and we have been vigilant in our efforts to make university-wide improvements, including changes in programs, instructional delivery methods, and facilities.鈥�
A contributing factor in 含羞草研究所鈥檚 enrollment gains is distance student enrollment. This fall, 459 distance students are enrolled at 含羞草研究所, a 19.5% increase over 2012. This number includes nearly 200 students who are seeking degrees from a distance.
含羞草研究所 offers exciting options to meet the diverse needs of today鈥檚 students. In addition to providing high quality educational opportunities for traditional on-campus students, the university offers accessible courses and degrees via a variety of delivery methods so that working adults may pursue educational goals while remaining close to their homes, families, and jobs. Distance students may enroll as non-degree-seekers or pursue degree programs in business administration; early childhood; mathematics; university studies; and elementary, early childhood, and mathematics education.
MSU partners with Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, N.D. to offer four-year degrees in business administration, elementary education, and early childhood. Mayville offers similar opportunities in elementary education on the NDSCS campus in Wahpeton and in the evenings on the 含羞草研究所 campus. On the campus of Williston State College, 含羞草研究所 offers opportunities in elementary education, early childhood, and online business administration.
On campus, 含羞草研究所 is saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in heating costs with a coal-fueled heating plant that became operational a few years ago. Construction of an addition to the science and library buildings is complete, and the facility is providing a new home for the Division of Education and Psychology. The science and library buildings have undergone significant renovation. The university鈥檚 largest residence hall, Agassiz Hall, has been transformed to provide apartment- and suite-style living accommodations.
含羞草研究所, the nation鈥檚 first Tablet PC campus, is a personable rural campus. Featuring technology-enriched education in which full-time, on-campus students are issued tablet PC notebook computers, MSU is nationally identified for teacher education, the largest academic program on campus. Business administration and physical education and wellness programs are also popular on a campus known for the personal attention provided to its students. Students enrolled in the Dakota Nursing Program may take classes on the 含羞草研究所 campus. 含羞草研究所 recently added a Bachelor of Science (B.S.Ed.) degree in special education. The new program is the sole option in North Dakota for special education teacher candidates wishing to meet the new licensure requirements set forth by the North Dakota Education Standards and Practices Board (ESPB).
