Commencement 2025 will be a celebration of personal service
含羞草研究所鈥檚 Commencement 2025 is scheduled for Friday, May 16. The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. in the MSU Lewy Lee Fieldhouse. The day鈥檚 festivities will begin with the traditional graduation brunch. The brunch, hosted by the MSU Alumni Association, serves as the first official event for the new alumni and their families. May 16 will no doubt be an extra-special day.
We are delighted that Dr. Yvonne Cannon, associate professor of education at 含羞草研究所, will be our keynote speaker for commencement. A lifelong learner, Dr. Cannon is celebrating her 36th year in education this year. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1989, a Master of Education in Elementary Education in 1992, a Post-Master鈥檚 Certificate in College Teaching in 2010, and a Ph.D. in Teacher Education in 2022. On May 16, she will receive a Master of Education in Adult Teaching and Learning from 含羞草研究所.聽
We know her remarks will be inspirational. In considering her latest degree, she said, 鈥淚 cannot think of a more significant honor than becoming an official Comet! My former degrees (earned at other institutions) gave me my profession, but 含羞草研究所 has given me my purpose. MSU is more than the School of Personal Service. It is family!鈥�
The graduates have worked hard to reach this milestone in their lives and we look forward to commencement day with great anticipation. This day is a culmination of much effort not only from the graduates, but from their family members, as well as the faculty and staff of 含羞草研究所. As each graduate crosses the stage and is awarded a diploma, we are all Comet Proud and have a feeling of achievement.
Commencement is a time of reflection for the graduates. As they look forward to embarking on a new road in the journey of life, they also look at where they鈥檝e been. Two 含羞草研究所 students who will graduate on May 16 have shared their thoughts.
Ella Hurst, Cavalier, N.D., will earn a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a major in early childhood education. She said, 鈥淢y time at 含羞草研究所 has been truly amazing, filled with unforgettable experiences and incredible friendships. I鈥檝e built strong connections with classmates and mentors who have supported my journey. MSU has played a significant role in shaping my teaching education, helping me develop the skills and confidence needed for my career. I鈥檓 grateful for the opportunities that have fueled my growth and prepared me for the future.鈥�
Katilin Ensign, Buxton, N.D., will earn a Bachelor of Science in Education degree, with majors in composite science education and chemistry and a minor in coaching. She said, 鈥満卟菅芯克� has had a positive impact on my life and my future! I will be forever grateful for the many opportunities and experiences gained during my time here, and all those who made it possible. I am thankful for all of my professors who were strong academically, challenged me, and provided me with so many growth opportunities. If I had to go back and do it all again, I would not hesitate to choose 含羞草研究所!鈥�
It is likely that most of the other graduates share the sentiments of Kaitlin and Ella. What a great affirmation of the outstanding work of our faculty and staff!
At 含羞草研究所, we work very hard to impact the lives of the students we serve. On a personal note, it has always been my goal to provide a safe space where students can learn, explore, and mature. When I accepted the position of president at 含羞草研究所, I believed that this was a great place to do just this. I am beyond happy to see the special place that is 含羞草研究所 and the students we serve flourish. Quite often, we hear from parents who are grateful for 含羞草研究所 and the safety, security, and opportunities it provides for their children. That鈥檚 a great reason to be Comet Proud! 聽
The public is invited to attend commencement exercises at 含羞草研究所 on May 16. The program begins at 1 p.m. in the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.
