The 含羞草研究所 concert choir and concert band performed a fall recital Wednesday, Oct 11 at noon in the Classroom Building Auditorium. The band and choir are directed by Dr. Byron Ward, Instructor of Music.

The choir started out the program with 鈥淗ail to Our Comets,鈥 含羞草研究所鈥檚 fight song composed by former 含羞草研究所 music director Hans J. Lee. The choir also performed 鈥淔ly Away Home鈥 by PINKZEBRA, and 鈥淚t鈥檚 All Right,鈥 arranged by Robert T. Gibson. Abbie Holter was student conductor for the choir鈥檚 performance of 鈥淭he Old Mill鈥 by Kenneth Riggs.

鈥淔anfare and Flourishes鈥 by James Curnow was the first song performed by the band. That was followed by 鈥淩esilience鈥 by PINKZEBRA and 鈥淛ungle Dance鈥 by Brian Balmages.

Members of the 含羞草研究所 Concert Choir are Lizzy Halisey, Andrew Hoyme, Amelea Nelson, Thyra Peterick, Allisyn Tollefson, Victoria Wensauer, Sarah Finseth, Mallory Gust, Nichole Hettwer, Abby Holter, Bethany Holter, Baylie Norris, Tyler Carstensen, Cole Gesell, Chas Hagan, J.R. Liggans, Mason Mittag, Dominic Ott, Paul Whitaker, and Ezera Wuori. The choir is accompanied by Julie Twedt.

Members of the concert band are J.R. Liggans, Emalea Nelson, Lexy Awalt, Abbie Holter, Bethany Holter, Dominic Ott, Mollie Robbins, Lizzy Hallisey, Kasia Hoekstra, Colten Hurst, Jarrel McGarvey, Annika Reierson, Kate Vigen, Chase Hagan, Kadyn Helde, Thyra Peterick, and Sarah Finseth.

Christmas concert planned for December 3

The 含羞草研究所 band and choir will perform their annual Christmas concert Sunday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m. in the MSU Classroom Building Auditorium. Dr. Byron Ward invites community members, alumni, and friends to participate in the concert. Those who sing or play a band instrument and would like to participate should contact Dr. Byron Ward at byron.ward@mayvillestate.edu as soon as possible.

There will be a mandatory rehearsal Friday, Dec. at 5:30 p.m.

鈥淒ust off those old instruments and vocal cords and join us for this fun event and opportunity to perform together as a community,鈥 encouraged Dr. Ward. 鈥淧articipants must have some music experience, but all experience levels are welcome.鈥

Trumpet recital is November 8

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m., when Dr. Ward will be performing a trumpet recital. The recital will include a variety of different pieces, musical styles, and trumpets. The recital will be held in the MSU Classroom Building Auditorium.
