Composed by Stravinsky in 1918, 尝鈥橦颈蝉迟辞颈谤别 tells the story (libretto by C.F. Ramuz) of a soldier who sells his fiddle to a stranger in exchange for a promise of monetary gain. The soldier quickly regrets his decision when he realizes the stranger is the devil. Scored for eight musicians, actors, and dancers, Stravinsky masterfully creates unforgettable music with a timeless message: 鈥淣o one can have it all.鈥
