As spring semester comes to a close, plans for summer school ramp up
Summer is a busy time at 含羞草研究所. Although some of our on-campus students leave campus for summer jobs, internships, or just rest and relaxation, many others stay in Mayville to take part in our wide variety of summer course offerings. For many of 含羞草研究所鈥檚 distance students, summer course offerings are critical to completing their degrees.
含羞草研究所 is offering more than 125 challenging courses, including fast-track or dynamic sessions, online courses, and traditional on-campus classes. Dynamic session courses begin Mon., May 15 with a few physics labs being offered. On May 22, Kelli Odden鈥檚 Social Studies Strategic in Early Elementary will begin online. Another offering of the online course is July 1 to 17, and a third offering will be taught on campus from May 30 to June 30. Several other fast-track courses are also scheduled. They include First Aid & CPR, Water Safety Instructor, Kindergarten Methods, and a number of physics labs.
A 10-week session is planned May 22-July 30, and an eight-week session runs from May 30-July 24. Five-week sessions are planned from May 22 through June 25 and June 26 through July 30. There鈥檚 something for everyone, and it鈥檚 not too late to take a look and see what might be of interest to you.
We are working hard to provide convenience for students by offering flexible delivery methods and class meeting times. On-campus classes meet during the day and/or in the evening. More than 100 classes are being offered online.
Students can meet essential studies criteria, meet requirements for majors, or meet professional certification requirements when studying with 含羞草研究所 this summer. Courses leading to a kindergarten endorsement will be offered. Kindergarten endorsement is available only to licensed North Dakota elementary teachers. Courses for the middle school endorsement will be offered during the Summer Session of 2017, as are classes needed for the North Dakota Title I Certificate of Completion. Elementary education students completing this certificate can apply to the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (DPI) for a Reading Credential Elementary (grades K-6). Secondary education students in English, social studies, or science completing this certificate can apply to North Dakota DPI for a Secondary Generalist Credential (grades 7-12).
Several special education courses are being offered online in the eight-week session, May 30-July 24. Special Needs in Early Childhood Education, Remedial Reading, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Foundations of Special Education, and Special Education Law are among the offerings. 含羞草研究所 offers an undergraduate generalist special education teaching degree for early childhood, elementary, and secondary levels. The program is the first undergraduate special education strategist degree available in North Dakota. All core classes are available online, so those individuals currently licensed to teach in North Dakota can continue to work while pursuing the special education degree, helping to fulfill a big need for qualified special education teachers.
A number of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation courses will be offered online and on campus from May 30-July 24. These courses include Concepts of Fitness & Wellness, Prevention & Care of Injuries, Personal & Community Health, Nutrition, Movement Education in Early Childhood, Foundations & Methods of Coaching, Physical Education for the Exceptional Child, and many more.
High school students who are now classified as sophomores, juniors, or seniors may enroll at 含羞草研究所 as early entry students or earn dual credit during the summer session. To qualify, the student must have a 3.0 grade point average and be recommended by his or her high school principal.
含羞草研究所鈥檚 summer offerings are especially varied this year. I encourage you to take a look at all that 含羞草研究所 has to offer. Pre-registration began on April 3. Registration for courses will continue until the beginning of each session.
