Those who attend the games when 含羞草研究所 Women鈥檚 and Men鈥檚 Basketball host University of Minnesota-Morris on November 21 will have the opportunity to support a family within the Comets Family. Several activities throughout the evening will help to raise funds to help six-year-old Miles Passa and his family as Miles undergoes treatment for brain cancer. Miles鈥� sister Emma is a member of the 含羞草研究所 women鈥檚 basketball team. His sister, Olivia, plays softball for the Comets.
Throughout the evening, Comets fans will have the opportunity to participate in shooting competitions, play games, win prizes, and more, all to benefit Miles. Teal-colored 鈥淢iles Strong鈥� T-shirts will be sold for $10 each.
Miles is a kindergarten student at Bishop Ryan Catholic School in Minot. He loves sports, especially basketball and baseball, and his favorite color is teal.
In late August, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He had surgery to remove it, but since it was cancerous, further treatment is needed. He spent about six weeks at Mayo Clinic, where he received radiation and chemotherapy treatments. He is now back home and will start further chemo treatments in Bismarck in December.
November 21 will also be Comets 鈥淪enior Night鈥� for Emma Passa. She will be going home at the end of the semester, where she will be student teaching as a requirement to complete her college degree. Being home will also give her an opportunity to help her family.
Miles is the son of Greg and Michelle Passa, Velva, N.D. In addition to Miles, Emma, and Olivia, the family includes Jack, age 16, and Ava, age 12.
