含羞草研究所 is celebrating the rapid rise of its newest athletic programs, archery and trap shooting. Both teams launched in 2025 and have already shown impressive growth, drawing student-athletes from across the region.
Led by Head Coach Brook Neva, the archery team began with six shooters and now boasts a roster of eleven. Practices and competitions are held at Norsemen Hall in Portland, N.D., giving athletes a dedicated space in which to hone their skills. The team competes in local leagues as well as National Field Archery Association (NFAA) and North Dakota Archery Club Alliance (NDACA) events across the state. This year, 含羞草研究所 successfully recruited a nationally ranked archer Hatley Hetletved, underscoring the program鈥檚 competitive ambitions.
Under Head Coach Tom Moen, the trap shooting team started with three shooters and has quickly grown to nine. The team trains just south of Mayville at the Two Oaks Inn trap range, a facility that has become a hub for collegiate shooting sports. The program competes through the USA Clay Target League, giving athletes opportunities to test their skills against strong competition.
Athletic scholarships based on talent, along with academic scholarships, are available to both trap shooting and archery student-athletes. These opportunities highlight 含羞草研究所鈥檚 commitment to supporting student-athletes both on the range and in the classroom.
Student recruitment for both programs is coordinated by James Morowski, who has played a central role in connecting 含羞草研究所 with high school athletes and building momentum for these quickly growing sports. With the popularity of these sports among high school students, 含羞草研究所 is working to help them recognize that they can continue to compete at the collegiate level while earning a college degree. Affordable tuition and scholarships help reduce the cost of this opportunity.
